Snacks

  • Hólabrekkuskóli emphasizes healthy snacks to provide students with energy and endurance. Healthy snacks include fruits, vegetables or bread with nutritious toppings. Water is the only drink students may bring to school. Water is the best thirst-quencher, calorie-free and doesn't harm teeth.

    Oatmeal available:
Oatmeal is served before classes begin: 1st grade in the cafeteria, 2nd–5th grade on the upper floor, 6th–7th grade on the lower floor, and 8th–10th grade in Korpa.

    Nut-free school

Most schools have someone with severe allergies, either children or staff. Severe allergies are rapid and life-threatening allergic reactions where the trigger is usually food, medication or insect bites.
For these reasons, Hólabrekkuskóli is a nut-free school. This means no food brought into the school can contain nuts of any kind, including peanuts and tree nuts like pecans, cashews, and almonds. We ask parents to ensure their children's snacks are nut-free. Remember that nuts are found in many items such as peanut butter, nut yogurt, some bakery breads, satay sauce, etc. Questions and suggestions can be directed to the school nurse.

  • The school nurse is Kristín Auður Halldórsdóttir, email: holabrekkuskoli@heilsugaeslan.is. The school nurse is on-site every day except Tuesdays.

Sports and swimming

  • The gymnasium and swimming pool are located at Austurberg. The youngest students are escorted to and from swimming and sports. During the 2025–2026 school year, grades 8–10 will receive physical education instruction at Korpuskóli's gymnasium.

  • Students are not allowed to use phones during school hours, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
