Orange warning in effect today, Thursday, March 26, 2026

An orange weather warning has been issued for the capital area tomorrow, Thursday, March 26, from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. RESIDENTS ARE STRONGLY URGED TO STAY HOME DURING TOMORROW'S SEVERE WEATHER AND AVOID ALL UNNECESSARY TRAVEL.

Expect significant disruptions to school operations. Primary schools and preschools will operate with minimum staffing. Parents or guardians who must bring their children to campus should email school administrators in advance.

Regular preschool and after-school programs will resume as soon as the weather warning lifts. We encourage residents to monitor local media for further updates.

Storm warning tomorrow - schools only open for emergencies

Please note that an Orange Weather Warning has been issued for the Greater Reykjavik Area, effective from 07:00 until 13:00 on Thursday, 26 March. PEOPLE ARE URGED TO STAY AT HOME UNTIL THE STORM PASSES OVER TOMORROW AND NOT TO BE OUTSIDE UNLESS ABSOLUTELY NECESSARY.

Tomorrow, Thursday, there will be disruptions to all school operations. Kindergartens and primary schools will remain open but with limited staffing. If parents need to bring their children to school, we request that they notify school administrators via email. We encourage parents to monitor media for the latest information.
